Tammy’s Story

As a cheerleader in a small town, she was supposed to be a good example for other girls.  It was the summer before her senior year of high school.  She was looking forward to homecoming, prom and graduation…and Tammy was pregnant.

She was too afraid to tell her parents, so Tammy had her boyfriend drive her to an abortion clinic.  As she told him goodbye and got her bag out of the trunk she heard, “at least go in with her.”  Two people seemed to appear out of nowhere, and walked up to her.  She immediately started to cry and knew that she wouldn’t be going into the clinic.

Tammy's son

After she told her parents, they were supportive of her.  She was able to finish high school a semester early so that she wouldn’t miss anything after the baby was born.  She had always been stubborn and was determined to prove to everyone that she would be alright.  Then Aaron was born and he was so beautiful and perfect.  All her worries faded away.

When Aaron was five months old, Tammy enrolled in college.  From the day she was in the hospital having her baby she knew that she wanted to be a nurse and help others.  Since then, she’s been able to help countless other women in their most trying times.  Tammy performs many of the sonograms at Choices.  Her decision to have Aaron shaped her entire life and touched so many others.

As she sat down to make a list to send Aaron’s high school graduation invitations, Tammy couldn’t help but think that she was his age when she had him.  She decided to send an invitation to the two people that had been outside the abortion clinic that day.  She had kept in touch with the woman, but hadn’t talked to the man since.  She knew his name though, and sent him an invitation.

As she watched her son walk across the stage, fighting back tears, Tammy was so proud of the young man her son had grown to be.  She watched as a man approached him and handed him a card.  When she found out that this was the man outside the clinic, she sobbed and hugged and thanked him.  Tammy was able to introduce her son to the man that had changed both their lives so many years before.  You never know what affect your actions will have on someone else’s life, or how it will affect yours.

Tammy wants to encourage others and let them know that they won’t regret having their baby.  What if you choose to abort in order to meet your goals, and then are too depressed to reach them?  Then you are left with no baby and no realization of goals, you are left only with guilt and regret.  This is a decision that will affect you for the rest of your life.  You can’t take it back.  You have three options:  you can choose to parent, choose to adopt, or choose to abort.  All three are life-long.  All three are tough for their own reasons.  There is no easy way out.  Choose life.
